Slug

It oozes in its own slime,
Leaving a wet trail
To the leftover cat food
Caked on the sidewalk.

The most disgusting things
Are always appetizing
To something even more
Perfectly revolting.

It bunches over itself
Then stretches,
Goo seeping out as it wrinkles up
Its body again and again.

I could squish it now.
I could destroy it
With a satisfying
Burst of mush.

Noone would notice
Its disappearance.
But I wait instead
Because I want to know.

I want to know
What it is out there
That finds it
Appetizing.

More children's literature workshop homework for you. Hope you like it.

Ah, the food chain. Who would have thought about a slimey slug being part of it?

I am so glad you are sharing your work with us. I love to read good writing.
